Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing the women behind three of my designs from the Coral Collection. I named the majority of my debut collection after the fabulous women in my life. Family and friends are one of the most important parts of my life. When I was deciding what to name pieces from the Coral Collection I really didn't want to use generic names that had little meaning to me. I researched suggestions to help name your jewelry. It then hit me, “Why not honor the women in my life by naming this collection after each of them?". I started matching names with each piece, finding a commonality between their personality and the design. The two women that have inspired me for many years and the one that is inspiring now are my mother, my aunt and my sister-in-law.
The Rose mother of pearl stud earrings are named after my mom, Rosa. She is the kindest, most compassionate, patient, funny, humble, christian woman I've ever met and I'm not just saying this because she's my mom. Her personal growth started when I was 12 years old and has not stopped. She makes a conscious effort every day to love, forgive, understand, and show kindness to everyone she encounters. Through her profound faith, prayer, and meditation, my mom's life is truly filled with peace and joy.
The Maggie pearl lariat is named after my aunt Margarita, aka Tita. Her faith and optimism have sustained her throughout the years. She is a 10+ year breast cancer survivor. My aunt is funny, loving, and selfless. Everything she has done throughout the years has been for the good of her family. She always puts her needs aside to make sure her children and grandchildren are cared for. It is just what she does! I admire her resilience and positive attitude during the hardest time in her life. She has always had an open heart. My aunt, like my mom started on her personal growth journey at the same time, about 25 years ago. She continues to learn and grow, showing love, patience and grace along the way. These sisters truly rock and they happen to be my mom and aunt, how awesome is that!
The Esther cuff is named after my sister-in-law Esther. She is quite the lady. She is very family oriented, a great friend and has a strong spirit. Her 20 month old son is battling leukemia. Esther has shown nothing but strength and faith during this difficult time. She is the rock for her family and seeing how she has handled this devastating news has been inspirational. Her positivity and confidence has truly helped the family cope with the my nephew's illness and continues to be our source of comfort. Through her actions she has taught me so many things. Women are the rock of the family and I am so grateful to be surrounded by so many women who understand the importance of this role. Let’s embrace it, celebrate it, and most of all be role models for the younger generation.
